Washington DC

A couple of weeks ago I spent 10 days in Richmond, Virgina for work. I had the weekend off while I was there so I decided to drive up to Washington DC for the day.

I left early in the morning and drove to a Metro station south of The Mall area rather than try to find parking on a Saturday near the monuments. The Metro ride was only about 20 minutes and I arrived near the Smithsonian Castle around 10:00am.

The weather was overcast with a few sprinkles, but wasn’t cold. Unfortunately, I missed the peak cherry blossom season by visiting about a week too early. The Mall area was cordoned off for repairs and the Capitol was covered in scaffolding as well. Despite not having the best timing to visit it was still nice to walk around and hop into the different museums.

When Victoria is old enough to appreciate it I’d like to bring her here for a visit.

Beautiful place, and beautiful pictures, Mike. I have always enjoyed DC – only visited twice in all my time in the Navy, though. I want to take Jeannette out there for a vacation some day.
